the R secretary of state was in the midst of a divorce. At the time of the election he was on the payroll of the local government and wanted to keep being paid for the job he was doing so he falsified his address, using his old address where his ex lived. And voted there.

So he was convicted of voter fraud. Charges of defrauding the county or city govt that was paying him are a possibility.

And the R governor (Mitch McDaniel) has decided that he is doing a fine job as secretary and chosen not to remove him from office.
