I know the W123 front regulators got a redesigned & strengthened casting somtime in the early '80s. At least that was the case 12 years ago, when I got a used one to replace the twisted & broken driver's regulator on a '79 300D. Don't know if the same applies to the W126.
As for the 240D, I've owwned two with power-windows!
