Brake pedal leaking fluid on my shoe
I did a brake job the other day. Replaced the brake pads. I loosened the valve for each pad locally as I pushed back the caliper. After I did all 4 wheels I went to add fluid and prime the system. I topped off the reservoir and pushed the brake pedal twice. (Thanks to this forum I now know that I shouldn't have pressed the brake pedal ALL the way down). I also should have checked the reservoir after the first one (or had a friend help). But when I got out to top off the reservoir, it was empty. I tried being more conservative at this point. But I think the damage was done.
I think I probably messed up the master cylinder and I ordered a new one. I was going to start that job this week. But the kicker is I am not getting any pressure on the brake pedal at this point and when I depress the pedal, brake fluid (I think) is dripping on my shoe. That can't be good.
I tried searching this forum. But most similar problems seem to be motor oil leaking from the instrument panel. But this is certainly not motor oil. I am pretty sure it is brake fluid.
Does this mean I am getting a leak in the booster? Has anyone had a problem like this? Can anyone point me to resources about changing the brake booster?
Thanks,
Aaron
