The label would not show the om603 engine #, only the year of manufacturing. The label has the VIN that you can look up. If it is a 300SDL and manufactured in 86/87 then it should fit. The engine would be a direct fit but you may need some minor mountings. There are a lot of info on 3.0L to 3.5L swap here.
