We send buyers over there who probably get paid based on how much they can lower cost. For manufactured goods? Same thing. Cheaper cheaper cheaper! As long as it is still shiny when it leaves the store, that's good enough.

The Chinese will build whatever you want, however you want. The only thing that matters to them is You pay now! They aren't stamping their name on it. They are stamping Briggs, or Black & Decker, or whatever. So why would they care? The buyer reminds them all the time, if you don't make it cheaper, we'll go down the road and get it made over there. What the hell do you expect to get. It's funny to hear people complain about quality and "it costs too much" at the same time.
