Thumbs up Thanks a lot

Hi guys,

Got the problem some time ago. Decided to solve it when oil change was due, as I suspected the pressure valve on the oilpump to be the culprit. (The pressure varies with revs instead of going straight to full when revved - and when starting up it takes a little time before pressure is reached during which engine sounds and feels as non lubricated).

In this case the piston in the valve could be leaking thus allowing oil to reenter the oilswamp instead of going through the engine. This problem is relatively easy to fix. Consult a Haynes manual about it. Oil out. Crankcase cover of. three bolts out. Pump out. Spare piston in. Spring replaced. Reverse the work. Fill oil.

BUT: my oillamp in the dash does not flash even if the pressure goes to 0.4. I think this is consistent with your solution to the problem. Thanks for maybe releiving me of a lot of work.

The pressure stays above 1.0 kilos when put in N or P. That is the pressure only drops when I am in Drive or some of the other gears.
Strange, isnt it?

When is the idle revs normal to measure? When in gear or when in N or P?
