The answer is quality. A friend of mine needed some heavy construction equipment for an open pit mine. I advised him to pursue Caterpillar; he went with a Korean brand as the cost was much less.

Two years later he had a scrap pile of Korean construction equipment and was writing a large check for Caterpillar equipment.

That was twenty years ago and his Cat equipment is still on the job.

This is an expensive lesson that people continue to learn. Quality is the least expensive option in the long run.
