Somewhere in the below threads is various means to ream out the Carbon from the Glow Plug Holes.
A few people have said cleaning out the Carbon from the holes allowed for easier Starts.

Others also say Synthetic Oil makes Engine cranking easier and faster improving the chance to start easily.
I am sure someone already metioned having the Vavles Adjusted helps also.
