Used to be that tax information was posted right on the pumps so everyone knew how much they were paying. Then the politicians decided we consumers shouldn't have that information so readily available. It's along the same lines of the mystery cable, phone, electric "fees" and weekly payroll deductions.

I just filed my quarterly International Fuel Tax Assoc. for commercial vehicle fuel use. CT's diesel tax rate is $0.512/gal.! Compare that to our fellow New Englanders-MA $0.21/gal., ME $0.312/gal., NH $0.18/gal., RI $0.32/gal. and VT $0.29/gal.
