Frangibles, or shot shells. Safer, but I wouldn't count on one to save a classroom full of kids. I have 9mm rounds loaded with shot shells. They do a good job on snakes at point blank range, but don't hardly faze raccoons as close as 10ft. Wouldn't have been any use at all in CT. I'd prefer a tazer or even better: bear spray.
