animosity between 60X owners and 61X owners? I have a 617, a 601 and a couple of 603s. I think I hate myself! They are all fun (well, except changing the oil on the '76 300D). I did once drive a 617 with no alternator or water pump belt! Ran hot then but no ill effects afterward. Darn durable engines.
