Barry, the PO started the thread quite a while ago. He could pull of his Intake Manifold and see if the Valve Stems Seals are leaking as there is usually evidence of that on the Valves.
However, keep in mind that since the thread was started the PO apparently has never actually did anything more to find out or fix what might be wrong.
So apparently He will get to the Job when feels like doing it.
