There are few places on the planet where there is absolutely no possibility of any assistance for any reason whatsoever. Whatever befalls you on that trip will require YOU to solve it yourself or pay the ultimate price.

The question that begs is whether those folks fully knew the risks that they accepted and chose to make that trip despite the risks............or whether they were largely ignorant of the risks?

If you make a climb and the statistics show that you've only got a 75% chance of coming back alive, who would proceed on such a basis? I'm not understanding that calculation.
