I know the 300s are rare, but given how down on power all of these old diesels are, I'd rather have the model with the most power. If that means I've got to wait a while for the right car, so be it. Thanks for the advice - I'll put an ad in the classifieds

There are a bunch of them in Portland right now, was my only point.
As you'll no doubt observe from clicking on the links you've provided, those are not 300Ds, nor are they even diesel. I've spent plenty of time thus far searching around, and at least on the west coast, there is a single 300D for sale in Lodi, and I was not impressed after speaking with the car's representative on the phone. Hence why I'm asking on here.
