There was a cut-out production date to eliminate this vacuum-control-pressure requirement (1979) and the WUC top vacuum line simply vents to atmosphere in some models.
Your symptoms seems more to do with the vacuum-switchover valve (active when air conditioning is on) to rise revs. Other posibilities are the fuel accumulator or the check-valve on the fuel pump. A series of tests would be required to ascertain de drop on revs when warm and sudden rise when load is reduced (gear shift in park).

Hi, i know this is an old post, new to this just wondering??? i have the exact same problem as Damian.. this car idle never has compensated for the ac. the idle just remained low. now this high idle just came up recently and its not the box under the dash nor the idle control valve they have been replaced. recent tune up did nothing. when it warms up all the way up it will drop to a normal idle. but the warmup regulator works sometimes it will warm up for two mins then the idle will drop and thats the way its always been. now after the idle drops a few mins later a high idle will kick in. to over 1000 and seems to happen quick. now i have someone working on the car for me it is in good shape with 86000 miles. i would appreciate any input.. thanks Mark M Domit
