Theirs is an ancient and noble profession. Not all are scumbags. I know personally probably more than a dozen. One was actually a scumbag but he also was an alcoholic and eventually fell asleep in his favorite chair drunk with a cigarette and burned himself and the house up. Actually I am not certain that the profession actually attracts any more scumbags than any other but if you go to court and lose you tend to think of the opposing lawyer as a scumbag or evil person.

I know some that are pretty incompetent but again, I am not sure if that is any more true than any other profession.

I can think of several professions which attract more scumbags in my experience....used cars? .....real estate?

I have professional relationships with several depending on what the need is. The one I use for my everyday stuff tends to talk me out of suing folks a lot, which is a very useful function. ...though I am not nearly as eager to do so in the last fifteen years or so, having gone into situations in the past feeling all righteous and indignant and finding the judge just doesn't care about what I feel.
