I have really looked at this from all sides. Realistically I could be gone at any time. Although currently I am in great shape.
A past employee suggested that I should just plan and implement years ago. I guess I will find out if he was right. We will manufacture items that for various reasons are not likely to experience foreign competition.
Having worked for myself for the majority of my life it is like a siren call to pick up the traces again but even more on my terms than ever now.
Since I got interested in going ahead on it. Several people have approached wanting to buy a piece of the company even before it starts. At this time it is not for sale and unlikely to be so.
Some people cannot wait for retirement. I was almost always happiest working for myself. Retirement does not seem to present the challenges I enjoy and the wife does not want to travel.
Perhaps it is because she is so involved with things she is always going to meetings and spending many hours a week on the road.
So we all evolve in different fashions with time. Theoretically we should be downsizing slowly at our ages but that does not seem to have been happening either.
Anyways I hope your relocation works out well.

I thought that I would get lazy and not work all day. I have been doing well. I don't set foot in the main part of the house until 5 PM. I am getting more jobs since I moved the shop home, than we had at our commercial building. I am going to auction the building next month. I am going with an online auction. The vultures are circling and think that they are going to buy it for cheap. That is NOT going to happen.
