That was after 9/11 (so the invasion did not cause 9/11). Message from God or not the leadership in Iraq was not unlike N. Korea threatening to do all kinds of mass Murder and at the same time training Terrorist to attack us. This is far from a innocent pass time.
Also during the first Iraq War there was not enough support from other Countries to go into Iraq. In the next Iraq War there was. This means the other Nations also felt it was in their interest.

Were the million People killed like those mountaineers were; doing something entirely peaceful or were they killed as direct result of the Fighting or because the were located in the area the fighting was going on? Do you believe We on purpose targeted Millions of innocent People just to kill them?

As an example I live next door to a House I know is full of armed Terrorist. What are My choices. At that point I have choices to make.

I can protest and try to get the local community to drive them out and Myself and My Family will end up Dead.

I can inform on them and My Family and I may end up Dead.

I can ignore them and hope that no one finds out they are there and attacks them and during and hoe that during attack My Family or I may end up Dead.

I can leave My Home move somewhere else maybe with someone in My Family but I will lose My livelihood and My Family My Family could even be threatened with Starvation if I do that.
Also I might move and another bunch of Terrorist might come and live next Door.

So now you are Bush and you have to compare the hopeless situation described above to what you believe is a National interest.
I am guessing that Bush is going to say that in the long run it is best to try to purge out the Terrorist in hopes that someday the peaceful People that live though the War can have a Life without terror after the War.

You have to notice that the Terrorist are not spending nearly as much time attacking Israel as they are killing and controlling innocent people and even fighting other Muslim Groups.
That is because when the International Community allows it Israel can go toe-to-toe with them and match any brutality the Terrorist can come up with. Take notice what keeps the bulk of the Terrorist away!

It was unintentional but the last Iraq War and the resulting Elections there has shown other Countries something new and has destabilized Libya, Egypt and Syria. If this will help the war against terrorism is unknown.
