wouldn't be much of a security process if TSA personnel could make judgement calls like you seem to think should be policy.

If you recall the Marine corps trusted Lee Harvey Oswald as well, before he then defected to the USSR, and subsequently shot Kennedy.

Everyone should be subject to the exact same security requirements, regardless of who they are.
