In case nobody noticed, the U.S. is in the middle of an oil boom. Estimates are being made that in 2014 we will only need to import 30% of total supply. All that without impacting sensitive public lands. Bloomberg recently questioned whether we even need Larry's evil pipeline.
Throwing around buzz-phrases like "dependence on foreign oil", and "buying our oil from our enemies" sure doesn't add clarity to the issue, neither does harping on the arguable-at-best connection between drilling in ANWR and some magical plunge in gas prices.
