In order to get away from the city regs, you will have to go beyond Collin, Denton, and Dallas counties. You might not even be very good for the long term in Fannin or Grayson County.

I moved out here 90 miles from Richardson in 1986 when my children were very small. I commuted 90 miles one way when I wasn't traveling or working at home. One of the best decisions I ever made.
