my 1978 300D has 298k and change on the clock. That's barely broken in for this community!
I have no idea how many miles are on my 1972 220D. Could be only 12k, could be 312k.
Those confounded five digit odometers!
BUT, when I got the car and title I became the fourth owner of the car and for several decades it had been stored with the second owner so, it actually *could* be only 12k miles. That little engine in there has a good amount of pickup and it would only marginally surprise me if the car actually had that little mileage on the clock.

"The 220D sounds good... I suspect it is the only car that you need a calendar for, rather than a stopwatch, when doing acceleration tests."
