If you want to wander around suburbia with a pistol on your hip, knock yourself out. If a company says you can patronize their business, but leave your Ruger at home, you can either agree to the condition or not. I have to imagine that a large company like Starbucks analyzed the pros and cons of implementing the policy before doing so.
Like it or not, a lot of people who witness civilians engaging in open carry in non-wilderness areas wonder if said civilian might be playing with 52 cards short of a deck. Makes them uncomfortable...
