If anything I think you're quite the naive one here. Starbucks is not your mom & pop small town diner that will shut down because gun people will boycott them.
They must've done some kind of a SWOT analysis and deteremined the strategic benefit far outweighs the reputation risk (among a group of fringe gun nuts).
