Toyota would build a super sports car and chose to build it on the Lexus 300.
They took the whole car, engine, drivetrain, frame, suspension, only the changed appearance of the body, minimal engine modifications and installed a turbo.
It was born a MK4.
So why change a Mercedes engine with a copy that cost 20 times more expensive , harder to find and more expensive to tune?
