My '79 300D (Turbo-free vehicle...) would be considered fairly equivalent; it gets up to 65mph by the end of on-ramps and I've cruised in the fast lane at 80mph. I think they should top out closer to 95.

So it's definitely a problem with that vehicle and not indicative of them in general.
