Reminds me of the following story:

Two Mexicans were standing on the side of the road, near twilight, next to a broken down car in north-eastern Texas, near the border.

One said to the other: “How are we gonna get out of here? No one will stop.”

The other said: “I have an idea. You lay down on the road and I’ll stand behind you and wave my arms and we’ll and get someone to stop.”

The first one said: “I dunno about that…”

The other said: “It’ll be fine…unless they are from Texas.”

So the first one laid down on the roadway and the other stood behind him, waving his hands.

Moments later a semi-tractor puling two trailers was heading towards them at freeway speed. The semi drew closer and closer and closer, and the standing Mexican saw the Texas license plate, and could tell the truck was not gonna stop, so he kicked his friend to get him to move out of the way. It was too late for both of them and the one who was standing bounced off the bumper and ended up coming through the semi’s windshield and into the pasenger side; and the other one got punted onto the bushes on the side of the roadway. Both were killed by the impact.

The driver slowed to a stop and used his cell phone to call the police. Moments later an officer arrived. The officer smelled alcohol on the truck driver’s breath and asked what happened.

The driver responded: "I was just driving down the road and suddenly these two jumped out and tried to attack me." Then the driver slipped the Officer a $20 bill.

“I understand” said the officer. He pointed to the dead man in the cab and said, “We’ll cite that one for breaking and entering, and then he pointed to the other dead man on the side of the road and said, “and we’ll cite that one for hit and run.”
