I don't understand this and I am not sure that it is true, but I heard something locally about this yesterday:

I heard that somehow the county actually makes money from someone being on probation. It's hard to understand how this could be, but that's what they said. If the kid had been sent to the county jail, it would COST the county money. It was suggested that this is why he got probation. I am very skeptical of this, but that's what he said.

If that is true, then the judge and the county have stooped to a new low.

For those not familiar with the area, this was in Collin County which is an upscale area. If money IS playing into it, it makes the whole situation even sicker than it already is. It was an elected judge and if I were in Collin County, I would be very focused on doing what I could to see her lose her next election.
