The parts catalog for the 617.952 engine shows the larger Heat Shield
believe it is a 10mm hole. I looked up a 84 W123 300D
Part# 617-017-03-60
1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D Base Sedan - Fuel Injection - Page 1

This listing for a 87 300TD W124. shows the smaller 7.5mm hole
Part# 601-017-00-60
1987 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Base Wagon - Fuel Injection - Page 1

From what I have read, either heat shield will work on a 616/617 engine.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
