I am trying to fix the heater on my '84 300TD and am not sure where to start. The blower motor works when connected directly to 12v but none of the heater buttons seem to do anything. Fuse #8 is good, receiving 12v on both sides. I'm lacking a basic understanding of the components involved in the heater system and how they interact, and my Haynes manual is useless (considering buying the FSM).

Did you ever locate the problem? I'd really appreciate any insight - what you found, what you fixed, what you would do/check next in my case. Thanks!
