Lightbulb Mercedes GLA45 AMG is black, white and red all over

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show, Performance, Crossover, Mercedes-Benz, Design/Style, Luxury

Mercedes-Benz has finally rolled out the production version of its GLA45 AMG, and, well... it looks pretty much exactly the same as the concept version we saw in Los Angeles. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, we'd definitely opt for the more sedate silver version (below) that we've seen in the automaker's own images as opposed to the kitted-out model (above) that we think is called the Edition 1 that's sitting on the show floor at the Detroit Auto Show.

Looking past the none-too-subtle black, white and red graphics package, we like what we see. The crossover (well, a CUV in name only...) sits low to the ground, offers up a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 355 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard all-wheel drive. There's a so-called Curve Dynamic Assist function to keep the baby Benz 'ute stuck to the ground, which is nice, and a Race Start function for quick getaways that allows the GLA45 AMG to run from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds.

Check out our high-res image gallery above for live shots of the GLA45 AMG, and scroll down below for the press release.Continue reading Mercedes GLA45 AMG is black, white and red all over
