Taxes in CA, hard to believe that! You'll be glad you went with the Ford, they are solid trucks and the International was a good choice of engine manufacturers. Having 420 cubes under the hood pushing the aerodynamic equivalent of a shipping container and still getting 16 plus is nigh on miraculous. The really important thing with navistar diesels is buying the BEST fuel filter you can find. With only one filter to depend on you need tho get a good one and change it regularly. My brother in law manages school bus fleets in SC and navistar engines power many of the buses. The biggest longevity determining factor turned out to be fuel filter change intervals and filter quality. HPOP and injector failure and cylinder wall/piston top/ring erosion were usually the result of poor fuel filtering.
My t444e is at 260k and still running close to what it was when I bought it. I do need to replace the turbo soon tho.

Best of luck with the new truck.
