I know it's a different car, but it kind of sounds like you might have the same problem a few of us were talking about here:

The way others talk, these cars are all supposed to start off of one glow cycle and idle smooth as butter when it's -40° out, so you might read through that thread and see if it sounds familiar. I haven't gotten mine figured out yet, though the OP in that thread seemed to have some luck. If you do have that problem it's not going to be fun as it gets colder.
