I don't know anything about this film, but the push back of the release date says one of two things....

It is a stinker and needs a lot of editing. It did poorly with test auds and is being recut.

Or..... It is a blockbuster of a hit and is being reserved for the big money Christmas release. Big films that are expected to do well with younger auds are often released when the kids are out of school so they can go see it over and over again with no pressure from school related tasks.

The Christmas release date suggests the latter. This thing must have done great with test auds so the theater owners were able to find slots to slip it in.
