After a couple of BOUNCED paychecks in private industry, that did it, so far as I was concerned, even though it was a HUGE salary drop --at first, to go to work for the City.
I am not rich, but damned secure in retirement, the lifetime pension and medical dental and vision care benefits don't hurt my feelings too much either. And the vacations and holidays were REAL generous too.
Might not hurt for Tyler to check going in that direction too. With a wife and family it might be a workable strategy for the LONG term.

Personal friend since middle school retired from the U.S. Treasury as a bank examiner after 36 years. He also acquired his MBA & J.D. in night school early on in his Gov't. career. 28 years ago, he was earning $60K a year w/U.S. Treasury. Imagine what his retirement is today?
I think he made the RIGHT choice staying put.

Sidenote: His younger Brother earned $2.5Mil total compensation in a recent year - he works for the Feds too in the banking system, and is also a J.D.
