Just caught up with this and although I have enormous admiration for what is being done, I have to wonder why. The answer that the builder prefers diesel to gasoline and that the original engine is not so great for UK roads begs several questions. While the dohc 2.8 litre gas engine has enough oomph for most drivers (bearing in mind that these 30 year old or more cars are pretty much cruisers rather than muscle cars) the R207 is no lightweight and I have to wonder if the installation of even a turbo diesel is going to improve performance that much. While the finished product will no doubt be one hell of an achievement all I can see is the ruination of a classic.
