for me its all about budgeting and ive messed up more than once leaving myself flat broke for weeks at a time, but for sales, he could spend all day trying to sell something and not have a deal at the end.
every hour you put in is closer to producing ordered printing jobs. every hour i put in improves the physical property im trying to rent and makes my income more secure. but for him or any type of large product sale, 6 hours of dickering could result in a no sale and that time was wasted.
some people love the art of the deal, so i was curious why he originally got into it. but if that spark is lost, better to cut loose and do something else.

I agree and I apologize.
