In the 3 years I've had mine, the hard top was off only for a week to check the soft top and resew some stitching. A few cylinders are leaking so manual top up / down wasn't a big deal. All ( 12 ) of the top cyl will start to leak when the car is older regardless of owners care.

As for the rest of the car, 6 cyl cars are a great value because many go after the 8 and even the 8 market is down. With the 5 speed auto, a 6 gets along just fine, as these cars aren't "sports cars" and more of a comfortable highway cruiser.
