It's not a trend or even common, really. Sure it could be arson, but the occaisional fire-wreck on eBay is meager evidence of a real problem. There are likely no more of these events now than in earlier years. The difference may lie in the exposure that technology gives to such an occurence today. Instead of a fire-loss making a tiny ripple of buzz in the circle of friends and family of the owner, millions of people may see it profiled on eBay. Media amplification so-to-speak. Why are more European cars cars seemingly involved? Perhaps it's the high-value, not the place of origin that explains this. I doubt we'd see a Lumina with similar damage being offered but you might see something like an STS.
