Trip Odometer

Hey Uberwasser, thanks for that iFixit page. I came upon it by random months ago and now I understand that you are the author.

My trip odometer is 'lazy' and the tenths of mile number column stops at 4 and /or 8 otherwise the mileage odometer seems to work (but won't register when the trip odometer does not work).

When I reset the trip odometer, it works until it stalls on those numbers (so far).

I am hoping that cleaning it will resolve it.

Any tips?

This method has worked on every odometer I've fixed, and continues to work thousands of miles later.

This assumes a few things - for example, that you don't have a broken gear. However I think the slipping shaft is the more common reason for failure. But this guide helps you open it all up and if you find a broken gear you can post here and someone can help you find where to get a replacement.
