Wrong Caliper Binding on Rotor Hub ATE 123 1980

A Remanufactured ATE caliper is binding on the center hub and the rotor will not spin.

I have checked the part numbers for these and from 1978 through 1983
they all call for the same part number at the local auto parts store.
I know these are the same as my 300SD because I have interchanged parts
before.

But when I installed it, and had a hard time getting the two bolts holding caliper to spindle. Got finished and the rotor will not turn and it is binding.
I loosened the caliper thinking there would be some play and adjustment,
there is not. I could grind the inside edge of the caliper to get the needed room.
Maybe a mm or two. But before I do, has anyone had this happen before
and can you tell me what you eventually did ?

I have never had a problem buying off the shelf reman calipers.

I have done rotors and wheel bearings too.
So this is a surprise.

I have a 1980 300D 123.130 chassis.
This year is sort of a cross over year with some things about it like a 1979 and other things like a 1980. I get used to that and often have to use my VIN number to be sure I am getting the correct parts.
