A good 12 years ago I had this problem with the 85 300D. Took it to a independent shop.
The guy used a small brush and some grease to lube the latch.
After that it closed like butter.

Before I had to slam the door to get it to latch.

You might take a cloth and some gas to wipe out the old gunky grease.
Or if you are ambitious, remove the latch mechanism and wash it out in a pan of gas,
blow it out with some air, then relube it.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
