Yes, 3M makes them especially for this purpose though they also work on stuff like fake wood station wagon trim (now THERE'S something I don't get at all).

I don't mind a stripe when well done and appropriate for the vehicle. I have a red and silver stripe between the colors on my Dodge PU and it really sets off the two-tone. While I haven't installed it yet, I have a similar stripe waiting to go on the S-10 (Mutt).

On a one-color Mercedes, not so much.
