Cleaning CIS Fuel Distributor

After a bad experience with a rebuilder in the Carolinas, and my 280SL still not running I've decided to get her back on the road. The fuel distributor that was put on the car was the incorrect one, so I located the proper part here on the forum.

The unit smells of gas, has been sitting for some time and the plunger is stuck. I would prefer to not have to do a complete rebuild but rather soak it in a heated ultra sonic bath and see what the results are. I know that this has been done before but couldn't locate a thread with some of the information that I need.

My biggest question is, what type of liquid cleaner should I use that will not harm the rubber "o" rings? I've thought about techron, stabile, carb cleaner and any other number of cleaners but am just not sure what would be the best.

If anyone has a suggest I would be most appreciative. Thank you in advance!
