Don't do the backside of the Sierras, unless you're just looking to make great time and are willing to risk the tickets. There are a few good stretches, but there is a lot of straight and boring also.

When I get home tonight, I'll toss some ideas out there for you to look over. What type of roads do you prefer and/or prefer to avoid? On the trip we just did, the only Interstate we did was the stretch of the 15 that goes through the Virgin River Gorge. There are ways around, but then we'd have missed out on the Gorge.
