Agreed I was surprised to see a bump again figured it would be swooped up by someone. That may be to blame for the level of expertise on this forum and our own inability to maintain our OCD to repair a vehicle like this once ownership is obtained.
My own head quickly visualized the situtation  You could take the pan off by raising the engine then either MIG or buy a new pan $$$. BUT - you might as well pull the engine out so you could do the main seal too. Then since the motor is out might as well do the Vac Pump, Thermo, waterpump, chain guides  And then its much easier to rebuild that rack, guide rods, etc.
What an illness we have with these machines
