I was concerned about the temps I might see at the Arduino with the device in the engine bay, so I put a DS18B20 temp sensor right on the board to monitor that directly. In operation, I typically see about 15 degrees F above ambient. The published specs for the Arduino show -40 to 85 C (-40 to 185F) as the operational range. I don't recall ever seeing anything above 120, so I'm not concerned. Mine is mounted well forward on the drivers side well away from the turbo and exhaust and in a place that gets good ventilation. If I had it on the firewall on the passenger side it might be a different situation altogether.
