I STAND CORRECTED!!!
Looking at the diagnostic test push button AND seeing the LED next to the number 4, I assumed that the blink code was for diagnostic pin 4, but it's not, it's for pin 19.
So after locating my handy-dandy push button tester, I probed pin 4 and got a code reading of "3" blinks, well sure enough I checked the ECT sensor and have a bad (or loose) pin I got no reading until I moved the pin a little and then I got the reading that I expected.

Car got up to temp and runs fine, even with 4 year old gas ( and some fresh mixed in)

Thanks to all that read my post and thought about the problem,,,

Now to swap transmissions on the 98 e320,,, uggh
