Our 15 year old boxer (!) got hit this year. I'm a beekeeper, and skunks like to scratch outside the hives at night...the bees crawl out to defend the hive and the skunks eat them by the thousands. Luckily he took one for the team and as far as I can tell the skunk hasn't been back. The smell wore off by the end of the week, but until then he was strictly an outside dog.
