The hat (Ushanka sp?) is a military hat and you don't walk down the streets of Moscow or Kiev and see anyone wearing these unless they are in the military. Both of these particular cities are very into the fashon trend and most people would not be caught dead wearing one of those hats, except of course the tourist!

As for the cars...don't stereotype Russians or Ukrainians, as some of the best, highly modified Mercedes I have ever seen were in Moscow and Kiev. I have seen more AMG and Brabus prepped Mercedes in Kiev then here in the US.

The majority of the Mercedes are stock and are very clean, you don't see allot of older Mercedes (it does not make a fashon statement to drive a old Mercedes) and most are all stock. You don't see rice or riced out Mercedes like this one, but you will see allot of beater Ladas and several other Russian made types. Although they look like beaters and are very cheap, they do run very well and work well in the snow.

I think this particular Mercedes is an exception to the traditional Russian standard of vehicle modification and ownership.
